SAR Board Member Run-off Election Concluded
The Society for Anthropology of Religion (SAR) has successfully concluded its run-off election for a Board Member position. The run-off was held after a tie between two candidates in the last SAR Board elections. All members of SAR were invited to participate in this important vote, which took place with a deadline of August 15, 2024. The SAR Board expresses its gratitude to all members who participated in this election. Stay tuned for the official announcement of the newly elected Board Member!
SAR Business Meeting at the AAA Conference 2024
Join us for the SAR Business Meeting at the American Anthropological Association (AAA) conference, taking place in Tampa, Florida, from November 20 to November 23, 2024. During the meeting, we will announce the winners of the Geertz Prize and the Student Paper Prize, introduce our new Board members, and share exciting details about our upcoming Biennial Conference, which will be held June 21-23, 2025, at UCSB.

The Society for the Anthropology of Religion (SAR) column in Anthropology News invites submissions that convey short stories about religion inspired by fieldwork, popular media, or current events. Accepted submissions will be published in 2024 and 2025.
ISM Fellowships 2025-2026 – Applications Now Open
The Institute of Sacred Music (ISM) at Yale University is now accepting applications for its prestigious 2025-2026 Fellowships. Long-term fellows will reside at ISM for one year, engaging in teaching and pursuing interdisciplinary projects. Short-term fellows will spend one to three months conducting research within Yale’s extensive collections. The program welcomes applicants holding terminal degrees across a broad range of fields, including but not limited to anthropology, African American studies, art, architecture, ethnomusicology, history of art or architecture, literature, musicology, Native American and Indigenous studies, and theology.
