March 2022 Newsletter

Hello everyone,

SAR newsletter for this month has arrived! First and foremost, I hope that this newsletter finds you in wellness and good health. I also hope that you have the best support system that enables you to help and support each other in your everyday life.

Thank you to everyone who has shared their new publications (congratulations!) and CFPs. We at SAR hope to include as much information germane to the anthropology of religion as we could, so please do not hesitate to contact me (febiramadhan2025@u.northwestern.edu) if you have anything to share! We will always look forward to including new books and articles, calls for papers, employment opportunities, awards and prizes, conferences and workshops, publishing opportunities, grant and fellowship opportunities, podcasts, public scholarships, and any other information you can think of in SAR newsletter to come.

As always, keep up with the most recent SAR news and activities on our websiteFacebook, and Twitter pages! You are certainly welcome to engage with these pages and accounts as well. Also, if you are on Twitter and have something that you would like to be retweeted (or you want us to tweet that information), just DM or mention @AnthroReligion. We are here to support any anthropological scholarship on religion from all the subdisciplines, so please do not hesitate to reach out to us. As the communication liaison at SAR, I might be late in responding to your emails, but I will try my best to circulate anything that you would like to share with the SAR network!

Thank you,
Febi R. Ramadhan

Society News

A friendly reminder that the deadline for AAA is coming up. Here are a few dates and important information to keep in mind:

1. If you want to submit something, you must start the online proposal no later than March 30th by 11:59 pm ET (note time zone!)

2. Deadline to have your presentation proposal submitted online is April 6th by 11:59 pm ET (note time zone!)

3. This year it seems that the process has been streamlined where panel/roundtable organizers are responsible for submitting the abstracts of all of the presenters in the panel. So organizers, plan accordingly.

4. Unlike previous years, organizers or presenters do not have to have their AAA membership renewed or have to register for AAA in order to submit their panels. Annual Meeting registration and membership renewal is only required after you receive the notification of whether or not your panel has been accepted, with September 9th set as the deadline for membership renewal and conference registration.
